Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine uses individual combinations of plant-based ingredients chosen for your health concerns. Frank holds a Diploma of Eastern Herbal Medicine from the Institute of Traditional Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine (PhD) in Acupuncture and Tuina from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
How a herbal consultation works
- A full health history, including all medications, supplements and allergies.
- A Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment.
- A formula chosen for you, with clear instructions on how to take it and for how long.
- Follow-up consultations to review how you are doing and adjust the formula.
Safety first
Herbs can interact with prescription medications, including blood thinners, diabetes and blood pressure medicines, and fertility drugs. Always tell us everything you take, and tell your doctor and pharmacist that you are taking herbs. Tell us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, or if you have liver or kidney disease.
Fees
Initial herbal consultation: $120. Follow-up consultation: $50. The cost of herbs is extra. Herbal consultations are booked by phone at 780-435-5115.
Common questions
Can I combine herbs with acupuncture?
Yes. Many patients use both, and we coordinate the plan.
Is herbal medicine covered by insurance?
Herbal medicine is not covered by insurance.
